Our Mission.
Our mission at Camps by KT is to inspire and empower children through creative, hands-on experiences that foster growth, learning, and exploration. We are dedicated to providing a unique environment where young minds can discover new opportunities, build lifelong skills, and develop the confidence to reach their full potential.
Curriculum Entities.
The Camps by KT curriculum focuses on six key pillars: Science, Engineering, Arts, Culinary, Public Speaking, and Empowerment. Each hands-on activity is designed to spark creativity, build skills, and encourage exploration. From science experiments and engineering projects to culinary arts and public speaking, we empower campers to grow as confident leaders.
Our History.
Our journey began by partnering with daycares like Kids R Kids, Children’s Lighthouse, and Primrose to provide enrichment services. We then expanded to sub-contracting with Houston ISD and Pasadena ISD, offering after-school programs at schools such as River Oaks, Oak Forest, Mark Twain, and Valley West Elementary. Additionally, we led summer art classes at Lone Star College. After that, we began offering day camps, hosting holiday and summer programs in the Fort Bend County area to enrich the lives of countless youth.

Meet Kellie Thomas, Founder and Head of Camps by KT,
an award-winning youth enrichment program that reflects her deep love for creativity and passion for impacting children's lives in meaningful ways. Kellie’s commitment to excellence means she is deeply hands-on in every aspect of the program, ensuring that each experience is grand and never mediocre. She brings an "extra" approach to everything she does, setting a high standard for quality and enrichment.
Kellie's journey is rooted in a legacy of Black excellence and entrepreneurship. Her great-great-grandfather, Dr. J.R.E. Lee, was the third president of Florida A&M University and founded the National Association of Teachers in Colored Schools, now known as the American Teacher Association. Her great-grandfather, Dr. Joseph Thomas, developed Turner Station in Baltimore, building an entire community of businesses without external capital. Inspired by their resilience, Kellie is committed to honoring this legacy while forging her path.
In addition to Camps by KT, Kellie founded the nonprofit arm Camps by KT for All, which focuses on providing scholarships, mentorships, and programs for at-risk children. She is also the co-founder of LifeLung, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness for lung health and providing financial assistance to those battling lung disease.
Her passion for nurturing young minds began as a pre-K teacher, laying the foundation for her current role as Director of Primary Education. Kellie is also the camp director for Camp H-Town at the Four Seasons Houston Hotel, in partnership with MD Anderson, where she leads programs designed to empower children impacted by cancer, fostering resilience and hope in challenging times.
Kellie’s commitment to excellence, creativity, and impactful leadership ensures that every initiative she leads inspires children to dream big and equips them with the skills they need to succeed.

At Camps by KT, we prioritize having the best camp staff. Each team member is a passionate individual, carefully handpicked for their dedication and expertise in working with children. Our staff undergo extensive training to uphold the vision and values of Camps by KT, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for every camper.
Our team includes certified teachers, high-achieving college students, and exceptional high school juniors and seniors enrolled in our TEEN Leadership Program. Participants in this program must maintain a 3.2 GPA or higher, A/B grades, and perfect conduct.
All staff members complete rigorous background checks, including criminal and sex offender screenings, and receive comprehensive training in CPR, First Aid, and Sexual Abuse Prevention. With this preparation, they are well-equipped to guide campers in every aspect of the Camps by KT experience.
