Our Mission.

Our mission at Camps by KT is to inspire and empower children through creative, hands-on experiences that foster growth, learning, and exploration. We are dedicated to providing a unique environment where young minds can discover new opportunities, build lifelong skills, and develop the confidence to reach their full potential.

Curriculum Entities.

The Camps by KT curriculum focuses on six key pillars: Science, Engineering, Arts, Culinary, Public Speaking, and Empowerment. Each hands-on activity is designed to spark creativity, build skills, and encourage exploration. From science experiments and engineering projects to culinary arts and public speaking, we empower campers to grow as confident leaders.

Our History.

Our journey began by partnering with daycares like Kids R Kids, Children’s Lighthouse, and Primrose to provide enrichment services. We then expanded to sub-contracting with Houston ISD and Pasadena ISD, offering after-school programs at schools such as River Oaks, Oak Forest, Mark Twain, and Valley West Elementary. Additionally, we led summer art classes at Lone Star College. After that, we began offering day camps, hosting holiday and summer programs in the Fort Bend County area to enrich the lives of countless youth.

Meet Kellie Thomas, Founder of Camps by KT

As the founder of Camps by KT, Kellie Thomas is a dedicated leader committed to empowering youth through meaningful experiences. She brings a genuine passion for creating a place where children thrive, combining education with fun to foster growth. With over 15 years of youth development experience, Kellie transforms camps into spaces where young minds discover their potential in a warm, encouraging environment. At Camps by KT, every child is more than a camper—they are part of a community dedicated to growth, creativity, and lifelong learning. The goal is to inspire each child to reach their best while having the time of their lives.

Kellie also co-founded LifeLung Nonprofit, which advocates for lung health, leads the Camps by KT For All Foundation and directs Camp H-Town at the Four Seasons Hotel Houston.

Her inspiration is deeply rooted in a rich family legacy that includes J.R.E. Lee, the third president of Florida A&M University and founder of the National Association of Teachers, and Dr. Joseph Thomas, a pioneering entrepreneur and philanthropist who founded Turner Station in Baltimore, Maryland. Kellie continues this tradition of excellence with every endeavor she undertakes.

She is an alumna of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women Black in Business Program with NYU Stern School of Business, Fall 2024, and has been named one of the 2025 Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs in Texas.

Kellie’s leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to enriching young lives make Camps by KT a unique and transformative experience for every child who attends.

Camps by KT staff.

Ensuring the best camp staff is a priority! All staff from Camps by KT are passionate individuals who have been hand-selected! Our staff has experience working with children and has received extensive training to guide campers in the vision and values of Camps by KT.

All staff are either certified teachers, college students, or overachieving Juniors and Seniors of High School (that are enrolled in our TEEN leadership program; requirements are 3.2 GPA or higher, A/B grades, perfect conduct).

All our staff has gone through an extensive criminal, and sex offender background check, CPR and FIRST AID training, Sexual Abuse Prevention course, and have been trained to guide campers in the vision, and values of Camps by KT.
